Reader’s Workshop

Reading is taught in Reader’s Workshop.  In this “workshop” you will find lots of literacy-based activities.  The heart of Reader’s Workshop is guided reading, which are small groups of students working on the same comprehension skills; this teaching time is on your child’s instructional reading level.  The class, as a whole, is also taught a mini-lesson based on a skill each week.  Poetry, Reader’s Theater, reading journals, and books that the teacher reads aloud also help to make Reader’s Workshop successful.
